Community and Employers
Experiential Education offers a multitude of activities to benefit employers, community agencies and students alike. The different types of opportunities offered aim to assist employers and community partners achieve their objectives, while enriching undergraduate education in the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Internships actively engage students in paid work within the community and allow students to explore careers in fields related to their academic studies over a 4, 6, 12 or 16-month period in a part-time or full-time capacity.
Career Placements expose students to various departments and professionals within a host organization through unpaid observation-based (job shadow) experiences. Over a four to six week period, students rotate through various departments to shadow and speak to the staff working in these areas.
Academic Placements engage individuals or groups of students in unpaid community-based/volunteer experiences that directly relate to a specific academic course. This is a great way for organizations to complete different projects or fulfill various needs, while allowing students to achieve specific course objectives.
