The Faculty of Social Sciences offers a selection of courses which cross conventional disciplinary boundaries to enable the Social Sciences student to engage in a learning experience that incorporates methods and issues from more than one social science discipline. Some of these courses may be described as research methods courses, some as techniques courses, some as academic inquiry courses, some as experiential education courses, and some are social science elective courses.
Inquiry
Methods and techniques courses help prepare the student to understand how to search for answers to questions and how to analyze the data collected in the search for answers. Inquiry courses provide opportunities for students to experience the search for answers to questions they identify.
Experiential Education
Experiential Education aims to enrich the students through fostering opportunities that actively engage students in the community as well as strengthening the relationship between academic studies and career exploration. There are methods, tools and inquiry courses which are discipline related and which have experiential components that are offered within each of the Social Sciences programmes.
